Enel and Eon trade the first MWh of “digital” energy using Blockchain

October 4th, 2017 will be remembered as the first peer-to-peer transaction in the energy market, with the use of cryptography and without intermediaries. At EMART Energy event in Amsterdam, Enel and EON completed an energy transaction through the Enerchain platform, a software developed by Ponton as part of a project with 33 European utilities. Enel has been among the main promoters of the project from the start.  The two counterparts transacted 1MW of baseload power (day-ahead) for the Hungarian market.
